As Icarus climbs high

above rivered snowmelt, bald eagles

spiral on sunlit blue thermals, embodying

not peace or war, us

as he drops, wings sun-washed past

the melting point. Each feather

falls flashing

with a waxy, gilded shine

reflecting not some external foe

but the unvarnished truth.
