Irrepressible

Irrepressible

On a lulled and certain morning,

it arrives.

A moment steps into the road

and takes everything that once was.

Empty plans drift

while you meet that singular,

tufted gaze

and every thought is upended —

even your own name becomes a question

with a whiskery twitch,

by an uphill flow on furred feet.

As this fierce current glides around

you, a cracked stone in the river,

a rush of recognition rises

in its wake —

nothing can undo

the living earth that binds us,

the timeless spaces

lit

from within.

It is a wild and irrepressible

love

that holds us all.

  1. This is magical Tricia! I am in awe you saw and photographed this “singular, tufted gaze” from so close. What kind of cat is she? xo

      • Wow! What a blessing to see a lynx so close. Your neighborly life with wild beasts fascinates me. Thank you for telling us about it in your exquisite way!
